New Levels, New Devils | How To Level Up Your Life

So, in my last post, I talked about this new life and creation that I've become. So many things have changed in my life in the past 6 months, let alone this past year and I don't really think I've had time to adjust or reflect on what's really been going on.

In December 2020, I sold everything and left the United States. I moved to another continent, got married in Nigeria, and started my journey of traveling around Africa with my husband. And all of this happened in ONE month, ooo. I've been able to travel to 8 countries in Africa in 6 months and have lived in Cape Coast, Ghana for 3 of those months. Not to mention that I started a travel agency with my husband, all while still trying to run & manage the two other businesses I have, and trying to figure out how to rebrand them.

But the Lord is so good.

He gave me the ultimate wake-up call, several of them actually, in this short period of time. In Cape Coast, I was given the opportunity to reflect, fast, and pray about what was going on in my life. It's crazy because I thought when I was in Texas, I did a lot of work to prepare for this season God was bringing me to. But truthfully, I wasn't ready. Having our first apartment together became a testament to that. I had more work to do. Marriage is nothing to play with and it's a very important, if not the most important establishment made by God. And the honest truth is that you can't do it without Him.

As I'm sitting here at my desk writing this post, I'm looking at this beautiful lush green mountain in my bedroom in Freetown, Sierra Leone. If I look to the right, over the hills I can see the harbored boats in the bay that leads to the endless ocean. I'm so close to the edge of the earth I can see where the sky and the ocean meet. Although it's cloudy and may rain, the sight is still a "once in a lifetime" kind of view. I'm living in the city on the hill.

How To Level Up Your Life

They say when you reach new levels, you acquire new devils. While that saying may be true, our God has chosen you for those levels, has given you victory, and has called you into your purpose. Are you willing to fight for it?

If you are experiencing a season of newness, I want to encourage you. You can do this! Put away the doubt & fear and let God mold you into the woman (or man) that He has called you to be. So if you're experiencing a new level in your life, here are some tips to fight the "new devils" that come along with it.

  1. Stay in communion with God. - I can not stress this enough. YOU CAN NOT DO ANYTHING, GREAT, WITHOUT GOD. You have the ability to do anything you want. God gifted you with free will. However, you can't do anything, GREAT, that is worth something and do it well, without God. This new level is going to require a level of expertise that you don't have because you haven't been there. The Lord has and He will help you. Have your quiet alone time with God and read your Bible. This isn't optional, it's a must.

  2. Stay in the Word. - This one is so important, I had to say it twice. READ YOUR BIBLE. We live in the age of information, and while Youtube University is highly popular (I love it here), it's given this over-saturation of false identity. Everyone is a guru, prophet, expert, or coach for something. So you have to be very careful about where you get your information from. The Bible is filled with practically everything you need to know on how to fight against the enemy. I'd rather get my information straight from the source so I can weed out the false and fake news about real spiritual warfare.

  3. Stay on your knees. - I think this goes without saying, but prayer changes lives, DO YOU HEAR ME! Don't get caught up in the world and listen to a society that will tell you "it's time to stop praying!". The devil is a lie! The Bible tells us to NEVER CEASE PRAYING. Do you know how long "never" is? It's indefinite. Prayer is not only the major tool you'll need in spiritual warfare, it's another requirement that allows us to communicate and hear from God. You should pray as if your life depends on it because it does.

  4. Stay hungry for the bread of life. - What I'm talking about here is FASTING. There's a story, in Mark chapter 9, where the disciples are trying to cast out a demon from a boy but they weren't able to. They had to call on Jesus to cast out the demon. Later at dinner, they asked Him why weren't they able to cast it out. He answered them with this, "This kind can come out by nothing, except by prayer and fasting." - Mark 9:28-29. Before Jesus took on his new level in his ministry, He fasted for 40 days. He told the enemy, himself, that man shall not live on (earthly) bread alone, went he tempted Him to eat. What does that mean? Jesus told us He is the bread of life and the Bible tells us that Jesus is the Word. So we have to stay hungry for the Word, and hungry for Jesus. Sometimes that means starving the flesh to feed the spirit. And if Jesus did had to do it before the new level in his life, what makes you so special?

As I'm writing these things, I know these are things God is calling me to do myself. Believe me, I'm right there with you. I don't have it all together, as it may seem if you look at my life through social media. I have fought so many spiritual battles to break generational curses and strongholds that had taken over my life to get to where I am today. And it's only by the grace of God, I don't deserve any credit for that. But I have been doing the work. Although I have more work to do, these were all steps I took, after getting baptized, that laid the foundation for my new life. I pray this inspires and motivates you to fight for the calling on your life. Fight to get to the top of the newest level in your life (because there will be more). Once you're there, you can enjoy the view for a while. Trust me, it's one you don't want to miss.

Peace & love my friends, Dominique.
