With all the planning for my website launch, HairWalk rehearsals, and getting my products shipped out, my weekends have been pretty busy. So, when my friend asked if I wanted to take a ride to Charleston, I happily obliged. I was just excited to be able to take a trip that wasn’t revolving, well you know, work. My brain needed a break and this was the perfect day trip to get my gears oiled up again.
We shopped in the Marketplace for a while before heading to lunch at Hyman’s Seafood Restaurant, a 5th generation family owned and operated restaurant. This place is pretty popular, as my friend explained to me that there is usually a line wrapped around the building. When we got seated at our table, we noticed these nameplates stated who (famous celebrity) had sat at the table. Of course, we get the table of Sex in the City star, Sarah Jessica Parker.
I ordered their pick 3 option with shrimp scampi, fried tilapia, and fried scallops. It came with a side (of course I chose mac & cheese) and salad (for an extra charge). I also ordered a Tequila Kamikaze for a cocktail. I asked for a little blue for coloring. 🙂 If you are not a heavy drinker, like myself, you should ask that they pour light on the liquor because they like their cocktails strong! I was such a great experience and the customer service was amazing. Being that it was our first time, the 4th generation owner came over, introduced himself and made sure we were exceptionally taken care of.
Charleston, SC has also been the scene of tragedy as 9 lives were taken in the shooting of Mother Emanuel AME Church, a heinous hate crime by Dylann Roof. While I was there, I had to go visit and pay my respects.
